GROWING UP I WAS TOLD
DAVE THE POET

Growing up, I was told
You can be anything, Do everything
Prince or pauper, Servant or queen
Dreams don’t know race, Color or creed
If it burns deep inside you, Don’t ever let it go
Relax and settle in, The ride is long
Deciding the ending, Puts fate in your hands
Respect the time given, To perfect your soul
Nothing wasted, Can be made up
If you’re absent for life
Your true potential, Will never be known
