BLOOD FILLED STREETS
DAVE THE POET
As blood fills the streets
The smoke begins to clear
Can’t think straight
It’s impossible to hear
People screaming for food
Trying to keep warm
Animals wiped away
Still more people born
Now I’m not here to judge
Give advice or condemn
New diseases arrive gift wrapped
To kill again and again
We need to look to the future
Change as quick as we can
Tomorrow will be worse not better
Might be too late by then
Water is polluted
Air filled with smoke
With poison for blood
The world begins to choke
People die every day
From hunger and genocide
The more we use
The less we have
Leaving little left alive
Open your eyes
Before it’s all gone
The clock is running out of time
We are on a path of self-destruction
And our leaders seem Deaf, Dumb and Blind
