PRE MEAL PRAYER
DAVE THE POET

God gives us gifts, He gave me a restless soul
The need to wander, Every by-way and back road
The journey of a seeker, Forever going home

Mile after mile, The wheels turn
Pistons pump and oil churns
A cockpit, Of tinted glass
I don’t move, The other cars pass
Oceans rise and fall
Mountains, Make my soul soar
The moon, Lights my inner core
Unseen power, Of winds that scream
My lonely tears, Fill valley streams
Every person born, Is a story waiting to be told
The journey of a seeker, Forever going home

Florida, Texas, Colorado, New Jersey
A U-turn away, From friends and family
A shared past, In a familiar space
Time, Is the only place
The soul sleeps, In a bed dreaming of the next escape
The blessings, Of a pre meal prayer
True Angels, Hands I hold
Reminds me, Somebody cares
Poets speak, Of salvation and humanity
Love plays music, For the falling leaves
A fire warms, The winter’s cold
The journey of a seeker, Forever going home
